The Customs Department at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar seized ganja worth over ₹9 crore from a woman passenger on Monday.
Authorities revealed that the contraband was packed meticulously in small packets and carried in the woman’s bag. During a routine baggage check, the Customs officials discovered the illegal substance, leading to the woman’s immediate arrest.
An investigation is now underway to uncover the origins and intended destination of the significant quantity of ganja. According to sources, the woman had traveled to Bhubaneswar from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, before being intercepted by the Customs team during the baggage screening process.
The seized contraband, carefully packed into 19 individual packets, was found in her possession.
