Rohit Sharma, the experienced batter, faces a rough patch in IPL 2025. While there have been doubts about his place in India’s Test squad, sources suggest that he is likely to travel to England for the upcoming Test series.
His position in the team seemed uncertain after India’s heavy defeat to Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. However, his leadership in the Champions Trophy victory strengthened his chances of continuing as India’s captain for the England tour.
With the five-Test series against England coming up, experienced cricketer Rohit Sharma is likely to lead the Indian team once again. India will aim for its first Test series win in England in 18 years. Many experts are supporting Rohit Sharma to lead the Indian Test team for the England tour.

Clarke Supports Rohit as Captain
Former Australian captain Michael Clarke has backed Rohit Sharma to continue leading the Indian Test team.
Although Rohit struggled as an opener in Australia, scoring just 31 runs in three Tests, Clarke believes he still has the skills to make an impact. He suggests that Rohit should bat at No. 5 in the Test series against England.
“I believe Rohit still has the talent. Class is permanent, and we saw that in the Champions Trophy final. He would be a great fit at No. 5, where he can handle the second new ball or stabilize the innings if early wickets fall. However, Rohit enjoys opening and is capable of handling the new ball, too. If I were an Indian selector, I’d pick Rohit as captain and leader for the England tour,” Clarke said.
