However, according to officials, eight workers are still trapped under the snow. The rescue teams are working tirelessly to locate and save them. The incident highlights the tough conditions in the region, and efforts are ongoing to bring everyone to safety.

On Friday, an avalanche trapped 55 Border Roads Organisation (BRO) workers. By Friday night, rescue teams managed to save 33 of them. On Saturday morning, 14 more workers were brought to safety. Efforts are still ongoing to rescue the remaining trapped workers.

Uttarakhand Avalanche: Rescue Efforts Continue as Officials Update Worker Count

Earlier reports suggested that 57 workers were trapped in the avalanche at the BRO camp. However, Uttarakhand’s Disaster Management Secretary, Vinod Kumar Suman, later clarified that two of them were on leave. This means the actual number of workers trapped was 55. Rescue teams are working tirelessly to bring them to safety.

A list from the Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority shows that the trapped workers come from various states, including Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, and Jammu and Kashmir. However, the list also includes 10 workers whose home states have not been mentioned. Rescue teams continue their efforts to bring everyone to safety.

Suman acknowledged that the rescue mission is tough, as the snow near the avalanche site is nearly seven feet deep. Despite the challenge, over 65 dedicated personnel are working hard to bring the trapped workers to safety.

Rescuers Battle Snow to Save Trapped Workers

A massive avalanche buried the BRO camp between Mana and Badrinath early Friday morning. Rescuers faced extreme cold, heavy snow, and rough terrain as they worked tirelessly to save the trapped workers. They managed to pull out 10 workers first and are continuing their efforts to rescue the remaining people.

An avalanche struck between 5:30 and 6:00 AM, covering workers inside eight containers and a shed, according to the Army. More than 100 trained rescue personnel from the Ibex Brigade were quickly sent to help. These teams, skilled in high-altitude rescues, included doctors and ambulances to provide immediate medical care.Four of the rescued workers are in critical condition, according to an Army spokesperson.Mana, the last village on the India-Tibet border, sits 3 km from Badrinath at an altitude of 3,200 meters.Videos from the area show rescue teams struggling through deep snow, surrounded by an endless white landscape.

Rescue Efforts Paused Due to Bad Weather

Rescue operations in Mana had to be stopped because of rough weather and the risk of more avalanches. Two smaller avalanches followed the main one, making conditions even more dangerous.Officials say the situation is serious, with containers buried under six to seven feet of snow.

Rishikesh-Badrinath Highway Blocked Due to Landslide

The Rishikesh-Badrinath highway near Karnaprayag is blocked after continuous rainfall caused mountain debris to fall, officials told ANI on Saturday.

Reports say debris is blocking multiple spots, including Animath and Pagal Nala in the Jyotirmath Kotwali area. Authorities are actively working to remove the debris and reopen the road for safe travel.

The highway was also temporarily closed on Friday morning after a major avalanche in Chamoli district.
