India is set to celebrate its 76th Republic Day on January 26, 2025, with unique festivities planned across ten coastal islands in Odisha. This year marks a significant initiative by Prime Minister Narendra Modi aimed at promoting inclusive participation in national events.
Security measures have been enhanced along these islands, as confirmed by Sanjay Kumar, the Additional Director General of Police (ADG). Extensive preparations are in place to ensure the safety of all participants during the celebrations.
The main parade will take place on Mahatma Gandhi Marg in Bhubaneswar, featuring various contingents from the Indian Army, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Border Security Force (BSF), and around 48 police units. A full-dress rehearsal was conducted on Friday to finalize the arrangements.
In Bhubaneswar, CCTV cameras have been installed to monitor the parade venues. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi will raise the national flag in Cuttack to enhance the patriotic spirit of the day.
Special attention is being given to areas influenced by Naxalite activities, with joint teams from the CRPF and Odisha Police deployed to maintain peace and security.
“Throughout the state, police forces are intensifying their efforts to secure Republic Day events, especially in Naxalite-affected areas. CRPF and Odisha Police personnel have been sent to remote regions to ensure safety. All police superintendents have been directed to remain vigilant,” stated ADG Sanjay Kumar.
Overall, these preparations reflect a commitment to celebrating Republic Day with pride and security across Odisha’s coastal islands and beyond.
