China is now facing up to 245% tariffs on its imports to the U.S. as a result of retaliatory actions, according to a White House fact sheet. This situation follows China’s decision to instruct its airlines to stop accepting deliveries of Boeing jets in reaction to the U.S. imposing 145% tariffs on Chinese products.
Additionally, Beijing has directed its airlines to suspend any purchases of aircraft parts and equipment from American companies.
In a related event, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta were seen together at Prerna Sthal to commemorate BR Ambedkar’s birth anniversary.
When asked about the report on the 245% tariff, Lin Jian, a spokesman for China’s foreign ministry, suggested that reporters should check with the U.S. for accurate tariff figures, as reported by Global Times.
China has expressed that it is “not afraid” to participate in a trade war with the United States and has urged for open talks to settle the dispute.
Lin Jian stated that if the U.S. genuinely wants to address the issue through dialogue, it should stop applying excessive pressure and instead engage with China on equal and respectful terms.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that President Trump is open to negotiating a trade deal with China, but it is important for Beijing to take the first step.
Leavitt emphasized, “The ball is in China’s court; they need to reach an agreement with us, not the other way around,” sharing a message from Trump during a meeting in the Oval Office.
She pointed out that China is interested in accessing the American consumer market, indicating that they rely on U.S. financial resources.
While Trump has spoken positively about Chinese President Xi Jinping, both leaders have remained firm in their positions amid the escalating trade conflict between their countries.
Leavitt stated that the president is willing to make a deal with China, but it is up to China to start the negotiations with the U.S.
The ongoing trade tensions between the two largest economies in the world have led to a steady increase in tariffs on each other’s goods, with China now facing a 245% tax on its exports to the U.S. Meanwhile, other countries have been granted a temporary 90-day reprieve from most tariffs.
