Rohan Mirchandani, the co-founder of the popular yogurt brand Epigamia, tragically passed away on Saturday after experiencing a sudden cardiac arrest. He was just 42 years old.
The senior leadership team of Drums Food International, the company behind Epigamia, confirmed the heartbreaking news in an official statement. They also asked for privacy for Rohan Mirchandani’s family as they cope with this difficult time.
In a heartfelt tribute, Ankur Goel, COO and founding member, along with Uday Thakker, co-founder and director, expressed their deep sorrow over Rohan Mirchandani’s passing.“Rohan’s passing has left a tremendous gap in the Epigamia family,” they said. “He was far beyond just a leader—he was a mentor who shaped our paths, a friend who stood by us through thick and thin, and a continual source of inspiration that motivated us to be our best. His influence will remain with us forever. We are dedicated to carrying on his vision and continuing the work he started with the same passion and determination. His values and dreams will always guide us as we strive to ensure his legacy lives on and flourishes.”
The board of Epigamia paid a heartfelt tribute, saying, “Rohan was much more than a visionary leader; he was a true inspiration to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. His dedication, limitless energy, and profound passion for Epigamia have made a lasting impact on us all. Together with the company’s leadership, we are committed to building on Rohan’s legacy and taking it to even greater heights.”
The untimely passing of Rohan Mirchandani has deeply impacted the startup community, leaving many in shock. Mirchandani, a graduate of NYU Stern and The Wharton School, took a bold step in 2013 by founding Drums Food International, which would later give rise to the successful yogurt brand Epigamia. The company eventually launched the well-loved yogurt brand, Epigamia.
Radhika Gupta, CEO of Edelweiss Mutual Fund, expressed her grief in a heartfelt post on X. She said, “It’s incredibly sad to witness so many people in their 40s and 50s losing their lives to heart attacks and the toll that stress takes on their health. It really makes you pause and rethink how we’re living our lives. It really makes you pause and reflect on life’s priorities.”

Earlier this year, on August 7, Ambareesh Murty, the co-founder of Pepperfry, also passed away due to a cardiac arrest. He was 51 years old.
