With the highly anticipated second ODI between India and England set to take place at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on February 9, 2025, three Indian cricketers—Varun Chakravarthy, Washington Sundar, and Axar Patel—visited Puri Srimandir on Saturday to seek Lord Jagannath’s blessings ahead of the big match.
The players made a spiritual stop in Puri before heading to the temple, where they traveled in an e-auto, escorted by Puri Police officials for a smooth and secure visit. After offering their prayers, they were honored with the sacred ‘Patitapabana Bana’ by members of the Puri Temple Administration as a symbol of divine blessings.
Speaking about the visit, all-rounder Washington Sundar expressed his happiness with a short but heartfelt message: “The darshan was very good, thank you.”
With their spirits high and blessings received, Team India gears up for the crucial clash against England.
As Team India continues its preparations for the high-stakes second ODI, the players are set to train under floodlights at Barabati Stadium this evening. Meanwhile, the England squad has decided to skip practice in Cuttack today and will also not hold a pre-match press conference.
India currently leads the three-match ODI series 1-0 after a commanding win in the first match at Nagpur. Key contributions from Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, and Axar Patel helped secure a convincing victory against England.
Cricket fans can expect an intense battle with the second ODI set for Sunday. India will aim to seal the series, while England will be eager to bounce back and level the contest.
