On Monday, the Supreme Court addressed comments made by YouTuber Samay Raina during his live show in Canada about the India’s Got Latent controversy. His remarks came after a viral video from his YouTube show sparked public outrage, leading to multiple FIRs against both him and fellow YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia in different cities.

While reviewing a petition by Ranveer Allahbadia, the Court mentioned Raina’s comments without directly naming him. “The Court pointed out, “One of them traveled to Canada and talked about this.” This came after Raina joked about the controversy during his performance in Canada.
Supreme Court’s Statement
Justice Surya Kant commented on the issue, saying, “These youngsters are trying to be too smart… They probably think we are from an outdated generation. One of them has even gone to Canada and spoken there. They don’t realize the authority this Court holds and what actions can be taken. But we don’t want to be too harsh because they are young—we understand.”
In February, comedian Samay Raina made his first public appearance since the India’s Got Latent controversy began. During his show in Edmonton, he jokingly mentioned the scandal, thanking the audience for buying tickets and “helping” him cover his legal fees.

Fans’ Response to the News
A fan, Shubham Dutta, shared a post on Facebook describing how, despite looking visibly stressed, Samay Raina kept his connection with the audience during his show.
Dutta mentioned that Raina jokingly addressed the controversy, saying, “There will be many moments in this show where you might think I could say something really funny, but in those moments, just remember BeerBiceps, brother.”
At the end of his performance, Raina closed with a witty remark: “Maybe my time isn’t great right now, but remember, my friends—I am time itself.”
Supreme Court’s Take on Ranveer Allahbadia
In a related development, the Supreme Court has allowed Ranveer Allahbadia to resume hosting The Ranveer Show, but with a strict condition. He must ensure that his podcast follows standards of morality and decency suitable for all age groups.
“Previously, the court had restricted the petitioners from airing any shows. However, if the petitioner provides an undertaking that his podcast will maintain proper standards of morality and decency, making it suitable for viewers of all ages, he is permitted to continue The Ranveer Show,” the Court stated.
Earlier, the Court had granted Allahbadia temporary protection from arrest, with conditions, including a ban on appearing on any show.
