Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) made history in the IPL 2025 by defeating the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Chepauk for the first time since 2008. RCB secured a dominant 50-run win, breaking CSK’s long-standing home fortress.

Chasing a target of 197, CSK struggled and managed only 146/8 in 20 overs. Young opener Rachin Ravindra was their top scorer with 41, while former captain MS Dhoni provided a late spark with an unbeaten 30 off 16 balls. However, it wasn’t enough to take CSK over the line.

RCB’s bowling attack shined, with Josh Hazlewood (3/21), Yash Dayal (2/18), and Liam Livingstone (2/28) dismantling CSK’s batting lineup.

Earlier, after being put to bat, RCB posted a solid 196/7. Captain Rajat Patidar led from the front with a fluent 51 off 32 balls. Openers Phil Salt (32 off 16) and Virat Kohli (31 off 30) provided a strong start, while Tim David’s quickfire 22* off 8 balls gave the innings a final push.

For CSK, Noor Ahmad was the standout bowler with figures of 3/36. Matheesha Pathirana (2/36), Ravichandran Ashwin (1/22), and Khaleel Ahmed (1/28) also picked up wickets but couldn’t prevent RCB from setting a challenging total.

With this victory, RCB secured two crucial points and made a statement by breaking CSK’s stronghold at Chepauk.
