Jio and Qualcomm have collaborated to create an affordable 5G smartphone aimed at making 5G technology more accessible. This partnership combines Jio’s network expertise with Qualcomm’s advanced chip technology, ensuring high-quality performance at a budget-friendly price.
Reliance Jio, led by Mukesh Ambani, is India’s top telecom operator with the highest number of subscribers. The company launched affordable 4G feature phones like the Jio Phone shortly after it started its 4G network in 2016. Now, Jio is preparing to release a budget 5G smartphone to expand 5G access to more users. To achieve this, the company is working with leading Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and Qualcomm, a well-known US chipmaker.
Vice President of Jio, Sunil Dutt confirmed that Jio is working with Qualcomm to develop an affordable 5G phone. The aim is to provide a low-cost device that will allow users to enjoy better network access at a more affordable price.
Jio transformed India’s telecom market by launching the Jio Phone in 2016. This affordable 4G phone helped millions switch from 2G to 4G with a low price of Rs 999 and recharge plans starting at Rs 123 per month. Now, Jio aims to repeat this success by launching an affordable 5G smartphone. This will help Jio grow its number of users, especially in rural and semi-urban areas where people need affordable phones and networks.
