Post-Mortem Scheduled for Nepali Student Found Dead at KIIT University

The tragic death of a Nepali student at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) University in Bhubaneswar, a post-mortem examination is scheduled for today. The autopsy will take place at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bhubaneswar once the student’s family arrives, expected between 8 AM and 9 AM.

The incident, which is believed to be a suicide, occurred in one of the campus hostels on Sunday afternoon, causing unrest among students. Police forces have been deployed on campus to maintain order and continue investigating this heartbreaking event.

In a related development, two security guards have been detained following allegations of assaulting students during protests. The Infocity police took action after the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) reported the incident, which gained attention after a video of the altercation went viral on social media.

Additionally, police have arrested a 21-year-old student from Lucknow, Advik Srivastava, in connection with the case. He is accused of blackmailing the victim, Prakriti Lamsal, which allegedly contributed to her tragic decision. Protests erupted on campus as students demanded justice and accountability from university authorities.

The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu has expressed its condolences and stated that local authorities are investigating the incident. KIIT University has urged Nepali students to return to campus and assured them that their academic concerns will be addressed.

As the situation develops, students and authorities are closely monitoring the investigation’s progress while advocating for justice for Prakriti Lamsal.
