The Odisha government will give an extra ₹60,000 to each beneficiary under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. This was announced by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi during the State Budget presentation for 2025-26.

The Chief Minister stated that the government is dedicated to implementing this solar energy scheme effectively. The additional financial aid is meant to encourage more people to adopt solar energy by matching the central government’s support. An allocation of ₹890 crore has been proposed for this initiative under the Odisha Akshaya Shakti Bikash Yojana (OASBY).

Additionally, the government plans to improve energy efficiency in its buildings by replacing older fans and air conditioners with more energy-efficient models. This effort aims to save energy and reduce carbon emissions in the state.

A budget of ₹100 crore has also been set aside for energy efficiency programs under the Mukhya Mantri Shakti Sanrakhyana Abhiyaan (MMSSA). These initiatives show Odisha’s commitment to promoting renewable energy and protecting the environment.
