In a major step towards cleaner and smarter public transport, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, has proposed a new plan that could change the way we travel in Odisha. The plan is to start super-fast charging electric buses that will directly connect Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and the well-known spiritual city of Puri.

What makes these buses special is their flash-charging technology. Unlike regular electric buses that take hours to charge, these new buses can fully charge in less than 30 seconds. Thanks to a powerful 600 kW overhead charger set up at bus stops, the bus starts charging as soon as it stops—automatically and quickly. This means no long waits, no delays—just smooth, clean, and quick rides!

Electric Buses

Travel That Feels Like a Flight

The first trial of these modern electric buses will take place in Nagpur, Maharashtra. These buses are 18 meters long and come with some amazing features to give passengers a premium travel experience. Imagine sitting in comfortable, executive-style seats with your TV screen, enjoying cool air conditioning, laptop trays, USB charging points, and even snacks on board. It’s almost like flying—only it’s on the road!

Saving Money and the Planet

One of the biggest benefits of these electric buses is that they are expected to be around 30% cheaper than regular diesel buses. So not only do passengers save money, but they also help the environment by choosing a cleaner, greener option.

If the trial in Nagpur is successful, Odisha might soon welcome these futuristic buses. This would be a big win for people traveling between Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and Puri, giving them a more affordable, comfortable, and eco-friendly way to travel.
