To better handle crowds during festival times like Holi, Chhath Puja, and Diwali, the New Railway Rule has been created. This plan involves keeping some trains ready at busy stations across the country.
The Railway Minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw, told the government on Monday that about 80 passenger trains will be kept waiting at 60 stations during festivals to help manage the crowds.
The Minister also mentioned that they will be enforcing a strict policy for ticketing.
While discussing changes to railway rules, the Railway Minister explained that they’ve decided to only sell the same number of tickets as there are seats on the trains. This is to prevent crowding. To also meet the demand, about 80 special trains will be ready nearby those 60 stations. These trains can be used to transport people if there’s a sudden increase in passengers.

Speaking about recent train accidents and the stampede at the New Delhi station, Vaishnaw said that the government is taking all possible steps to prevent these kinds of unfortunate events from happening again.
It’s important to mention that the railway has been working on various things to prevent train accidents. This is part of their promise to make railway operations more modern.
The Minister said that they are working on expanding the railway network, fixing the tracks, installing a system to prevent train crashes, and hiring more staff, and these are all high priorities.
