The GAC Group, a prominent Chinese automotive manufacturer, has launched a new brand called GOVY, focusing on electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing (eVTOL) vehicles. This initiative marks GAC’s commitment to advancing sustainable air travel. GOVY specializes in the design and production of flying cars, with its flagship model, the AirJet, capable of operating as an air taxi for distances up to 124 miles.

The AirJet is constructed with over 90% carbon fiber, making it lightweight and efficient. This design allows it to weigh only one-third of traditional cars while providing longer flight capabilities. The aircraft can take off vertically and transition smoothly to cruising mode, achieving speeds of up to 250 km/h (155 mph). It can be recharged in just 30 minutes, making it practical for urban commuting.

GAC plans to enhance the AirJet’s range to 400 km (249 miles) in the future by incorporating advanced solid-state battery technology. The vehicle features a luxurious cabin with a unique seating arrangement and autonomous flight capabilities. Safety is prioritized with advanced systems for real-time monitoring and obstacle detection.

In addition to the AirJet, GAC introduced its Robo-AirTaxi system, which combines ground and aerial transport for seamless travel. The GOVY AirCar will handle short urban trips of up to 12 miles, while the AirJet will cater to mid-range journeys of up to 124 miles.

GAC aims to achieve airworthiness certification for its flying cars by 2025 and is setting up production lines to prepare for commercial operations in China. With these innovations, GAC is poised to transform urban mobility and lead the way in sustainable air transportation solutions.
