Preparations are underway for the Navy Day celebrations taking place on December 4 in Puri, Odisha. Rehearsals for the event started on Sunday at Blue Flag Beach and will last two days. Officials have announced that President Droupadi Murmu will attend this significant occasion, which will feature an impressive display of 15 warships and 40 aircraft. Navy Day is celebrated every year on December 4 to remember India’s victory over Pakistan in the 1971 war.
This year, the Indian Navy will conduct its operational demonstrations in Odisha for the first time. B. Deepak Aneel, the commanding officer of INS Chilka, mentioned that preparations for the event started several months ago. Attendees can expect an amazing show featuring ships, submarines, aircraft, and performances by marine commandos. Aneel stated, “You will see a fantastic display,” emphasizing the event’s impressive nature.
Puri district collector Siddharth S. Swain discussed how the district administration is actively involved in organizing the celebrations for December 4. He noted that the two-day dress rehearsal began on time, and improvements are being made to ensure a great experience for attendees. Additionally, a large number of police officers will be stationed along the beach and throughout the town to maintain security during the event.

Puri Superintendent of Police Vineet Agarwal announced that all the necessary preparations for the rehearsal have been finalized. Indian Navy officials have also invited several important guests, including Puri Gajapati Maharaja Dibya Singha Deb, to join the Navy Day program. Visitors can look forward to a performance by the Navy’s band, which will play patriotic songs and hold concerts.
The celebrations will start at 3:45 PM and include various activities such as a bomb burst maneuver by Hawk aircraft, a submarine sail past, and demonstrations by Marine Commandos (MARCOS). The day will conclude with a ceremonial sunset and a drone show. To ensure public safety and smooth traffic flow, local authorities have issued advisories and designated no-vehicle zones around the event area.
