On Monday evening, an IndiGo flight traveling from Jaipur to Mumbai was forced to make an emergency landing at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) due to a bomb threat. The incident occurred aboard Flight 6E 5324, which was carrying 225 passengers and crew members. Authorities declared a full emergency at 8:43 PM, and the plane landed safely at 8:50 PM.

The alert was triggered when a threatening note was found inside the rear lavatory of the aircraft while it was mid-flight. The note reportedly read, “A bomb is waiting for you, not a joke.” Upon discovering the message, the crew immediately informed air traffic control, and emergency protocols were initiated.

Safety Measures and Response

After landing, the aircraft was moved to a remote parking bay as part of standard security procedures. Bomb disposal teams and CISF officials conducted thorough checks of the plane but found nothing suspicious. All passengers disembarked safely following strict safety protocols.

Airport Operations Unaffected

Despite the emergency, operations at Mumbai Airport continued without disruption. A spokesperson for CSMIA confirmed that the airport actively coordinated with IndiGo and security agencies to ensure passenger and staff safety remained the top priority.

Ongoing Investigation

Authorities are now investigating the source of the Bomb threat note to determine whether it was a credible warning or a hoax. Security agencies are analyzing the contents of the note and reviewing passenger information to identify potential suspects.

Context of Bomb Threats

This incident adds to a growing number of bomb threats reported in aviation this year. According to data from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), airlines have received 24 hoax bomb threats up to March 2025.

While no suspicious items were found onboard Flight 6E 5324, the swift response from the crew, airport authorities, and security teams ensured the safety of all passengers and staff. The investigation continues as officials work to uncover more details about this alarming incident.
