Quetta, April 14 (NVI):
On Sunday, people across many towns in Pakistan-occupied Balochistan came together to raise their voices for justice, and they held Mass protests in Balochistan demanding the immediate release of Dr. Mahrang Baloch and other leaders of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), who were reportedly picked up by Pakistani forces without any legal reason.
Dr. Mahrang and several senior members of the BYC were taken into custody more than three weeks ago while they were holding a peaceful protest in Quetta. They were speaking out against the unlawful detention and killings of young people in the region.
The BYC had planned peaceful demonstrations in about 20 towns and cities, including Quetta. However, the capital city saw a large deployment of police and security forces, which stopped protesters from gathering there. Despite that, powerful rallies were held in other towns such as Gwadar, Turbat, Noshki, Kalat, Mastung, and Khuzdar.
During the protests, people marched through the streets, holding banners and placards. Their messages were clear — they wanted justice and demanded the safe return of their leaders. Protesters shouted slogans against the Pakistani government, highlighting their anger and pain.
The main theme across all the demonstrations was a strong accusation against Pakistan for its ongoing mistreatment of the Baloch people. Many people opened up about the pain of losing their loved ones. Mothers spoke of missing sons, wives remembered their husbands, and children wept for their fathers — all allegedly taken or killed as part of a larger pattern of oppression.
The people of Balochistan are calling for peace, dignity, and justice. Through these protests, they are sending a clear message to the world: their voices will not be silenced, and their demand for basic human rights must be heard.
