Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) secured their first home win of IPL 2025 with a thrilling 12-run win over Mumbai Indians (MI) at the BRSABV Ekana Stadium on Friday.
Batting first on a black-soil pitch, LSG openers Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram gave their team a great start. Marsh played a fiery knock of 60 runs off just 31 balls, while Markram followed with a composed 53 off 38 balls. David Miller also chipped in with a quick 27 off 14 balls to help LSG post a strong total of 203/8 — their second 200+ score this season.
For MI, skipper Hardik Pandya was the standout with the ball, picking up his first-ever five-wicket haul (5/36) in T20s. He dismissed key batters like Nicholas Pooran, Rishabh Pant, Markram, Miller, and Akash Deep using clever slower deliveries.

In response, MI got a strong push from Suryakumar Yadav (67) and Naman Dhir (46), who kept the chase alive. But after Surya’s dismissal in the 17th over, the momentum shifted back to LSG. Tilak Varma had a tough time in the middle and was eventually retired out as MI struggled in the final overs.
Shardul Thakur, Digvesh Rathi, and Avesh Khan held their nerve in the death overs, sticking to their wide-line strategy and executing well under pressure. Despite Hardik hitting a big six in the final over, LSG managed to defend their total and grab a memorable win.
Brief Scores:
- LSG – 203/8 in 20 overs
(Mitchell Marsh 60, Aiden Markram 53; Hardik Pandya 5/36) - MI – 191/5 in 20 overs
