JD Vance’s daughter Mirabel won hearts during the inauguration ceremony by sucking her thumb, providing a charming contrast to the otherwise serious event.
On January 20, JD Vance was sworn in as the Vice President of the United States during Donald Trump‘s inauguration as the 47th president.
At 40 years old, JD Vance was joined by his family, including his wife Usha Chilukuri, and their three children: Ewan, Vivek, and Mirabel.
While the ceremony was marked by its solemnity, it was 3-year-old Mirabel who captured attention as she sucked her thumb while her father took the oath of office.
The toddler, held by her Indian-origin mother, gazed at her father with her thumb in her mouth, and three of her fingers were covered with colorful bandages.
This adorable moment from the formal ceremony was broadcast live to millions and quickly went viral on social media, with many users expressing delight over Mirabel’s innocent behavior. Some also speculated about the colorful bandages on her fingers.

“I think everyone can agree that JD Vance’s daughter sucking her thumb with those cute bandages is just adorable,” tweeted user Katy M Clark.
Another user commented, “The bandaids on JD Vance’s daughter’s fingers are hilarious. They probably just put them on because she insisted and needed to behave.”
User Meghan Maureen added, “Mirabel covering herself with bandaids right before such an important event is such a classic toddler move.”
