The government is offering subsidies for a ₹60,000 investment to help households in Odisha eliminate their electricity bills through solar energy. This initiative is part of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, which aims to install rooftop solar panels for free electricity.

Under this scheme, households can receive up to 40% of the installation cost as a subsidy. For those with an average monthly electricity consumption of 150 units, they can get central financial assistance ranging from ₹30,000 to ₹60,000. If their consumption is between 150 and 300 units, the assistance can go up to ₹78,000.

The Odisha government has begun promoting this program to encourage more residents to adopt solar energy. So far, thousands of applications have been received, indicating strong interest in the initiative.
