Reports about the engagement between Samajwadi Party MP Priya Saroj and Indian cricketer Rinku Singh have been met with denial from Priya’s father. He confirmed that while there has been no engagement yet, Rinku’s family has proposed marriage, which they are seriously contemplating.
According to ABP Live, Tufani Saroj, Priya’s father, mentioned that discussions regarding the marriage proposal took place with his elder son-in-law, currently serving as a Chief Judicial Magistrate in Aligarh.
As of now, neither Rinku Singh nor Priya Saroj has publicly acknowledged these developments.
Rinku Singh is a key player in India’s T20I team and was part of the squad that won the World Cup under Rohit Sharma‘s leadership last year. He is preparing to play in a five-match T20I series against England next week.

At 27 years old, Rinku has played two One Day Internationals (ODIs) and 30 T20Is since making his international debut in August 2023, accumulating 562 runs across formats. He is recognized for his exceptional finishing abilities and plays for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League (IPL), where he helped secure the championship last season.
Priya Saroj, 26, is a first-time Member of Parliament representing the Macchlishahr constituency in Uttar Pradesh. In the last election, she defeated BJP candidate BP Saroj by over 35,000 votes.
Coming from a political family, her father Tufani Saroj has served as an MP three times and is currently an MLA from Kerakat. Priya initially pursued a law degree with aspirations of becoming a judge rather than entering politics like her father.
In an interview with The Indian Express, she shared her journey: “Despite my father’s long-standing political career with consistent wins from 1999 to 2014, I never envisioned myself as a politician. After completing my law degree, I focused on preparing for judgeship exams during the COVID-19 pandemic. Even when my candidacy was announced, I was still engaged in online classes for those exams.”
