In the wake of the tragic terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made it clear that it will not engage in any bilateral cricket series with Pakistan.
BCCI’s Stance Reflects Government Policy
BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla confirmed the board’s decision, stating, “We will support and follow whatever decision the government makes.” His words show that the BCCI has always followed the government’s stance on cricket relations with Pakistan.
This move is not new—since Pakistan visited India in 2012-13, the two nations have not played a full cricket series. Tensions have only risen over the years, especially after incidents like the recent Pahalgam attack, which has further strained relations. For now, cricket between India and Pakistan remains suspended, with the BCCI continuing to stand by the Indian government and the nation during this difficult period.
India-Pakistan Matches Limited to International Tournaments
Currently, India and Pakistan only compete in major international cricket events. India has chosen to skip traveling to Pakistan for the 2025 Champions Trophy and will play their matches at a different location instead. Instead, key matches—especially the much-awaited India vs. Pakistan clash—will be held at a neutral venue, likely in Dubai.

BCCI Expresses Deep Sympathy Over Pahalgam Attack
BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia shared his deep sadness over the Pahalgam attack, grieving for the innocent lives that were lost. He strongly disapproved of the violence and offered his heartfelt sympathies to the families who were mourning their loss. “We stand united with the nation during this time of immense pain,” Saikia said, echoing the sentiments of people across India.
