On Saturday, the price of aviation turbine fuel (ATF) increased significantly by 5.6%, while the cost of commercial LPG used in hotels and restaurants was reduced by ₹7 per 19-kg cylinder. This adjustment aligns with changes in benchmark international prices.

Specifically, the ATF price rose by ₹5,078.25 per kilolitre, bringing it to ₹95,533.72 per kilolitre in Delhi, home to one of India’s busiest airports. This increase follows a 1.5% reduction in ATF prices during the last revision on January 1.

Before this hike, ATF prices had been raised twice: by ₹2,941.50 per kilolitre (3.3%) on November 1 and by ₹1,318.12 per kilolitre (1.45%) on December 1, 2024. In Mumbai, the ATF price has now increased to ₹89,318.90 from ₹84,511.93 per kilolitre.

In contrast, oil companies have lowered the price of commercial LPG by ₹7 to ₹1,797 per 19-kg cylinder in Delhi. This marks the second price cut following five consecutive monthly increases, with a previous reduction of ₹14.50 on January 1.

Overall, before these reductions this year, commercial LPG prices had risen by ₹172.50 over five hikes. Currently, commercial LPG costs ₹1,749.50 per 19-kg cylinder in Mumbai, ₹1,907 in Kolkata, and ₹1,959.50 in Chennai.

It’s important to note that ATF and LPG prices vary across states due to local taxes like VAT. However, the price of domestic cooking gas remains unchanged at ₹803 for a 14.2-kg cylinder.

State-owned companies such as Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) adjust ATF and cooking gas prices monthly based on international fuel prices and foreign exchange rates.

Meanwhile, petrol and diesel prices remain stable after a reduction of ₹2 per litre in mid-March ahead of general elections. Currently, petrol is priced at ₹94.72 per litre in Delhi, while diesel costs ₹87.62.
