Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 hit theaters on Thursday and made history with its opening day performance. This film earned ₹165 crore nett in India on its first day. The film’s earnings were distributed across different languages: it made ₹95.1 crore in Telugu, ₹67 crore in Hindi, ₹7 crore in Tamil, ₹5 crore in Malayalam, and ₹1 crore in Kannada. This achievement makes Pushpa 2 the biggest opener ever, surpassing previous records from films like Jawan and Baahubali 2. The film performed exceptionally well across various languages, with ₹95.1 crore from Telugu and ₹67 crore from Hindi alone.

On its opening day, Pushpa 2 saw impressive attendance, with an overall occupancy rate of 82.66% for its Telugu screenings. In Hyderabad, the film had more than 1,500 shows, achieving a remarkable occupancy of over 94%, while Bengaluru hosted over 1,000 shows with around 70% occupancy. For the Hindi version, the occupancy was over 59%. The Delhi-NCR area had more than 1,700 shows at 61% occupancy, and the Mumbai region had over 1,500 shows with approximately 57% occupancy.

Pushpa 2 has made a stunning debut at the box office, earning ₹175 crore on its opening day, which positions it as the biggest opener in Indian cinema history. Previously, the record was held by SS Rajamouli’s RRR, which earned ₹133 crore on its first day. Following Baahubali 2 was next with ₹121 crores. Other notable films include KGF 2 and Kalki 2898 AD, which made ₹116 crore and ₹114 crore, respectively, on their opening days. This remarkable achievement highlights Pushpa 2’s significant impact and popularity among audiences.

Pushpa 2 was released on Thursday, allowing it to take advantage of a long four-day weekend for box office success. If the film manages to earn ₹300 crore globally on its opening day, it could approach ₹1,000 crore by the end of the weekend, a milestone never achieved before. The highest-grossing Indian film is Dangal, which made over ₹2,500 crore after its release in China. Following that is Baahubali 2, which earned ₹1,788 crore during its theatrical run. The buzz around Pushpa 2 indicates that it is likely to break new records in the days ahead.
