Abhishek Bachchan recently said that people always talk about the bond between a mother and her child, but they rarely mention a father’s efforts. He explained that fathers work quietly, showing their love and care without saying much.

Abhishek Bachchan recently returned to the silver screen with I Want to Talk, Shoojit Sircar’s first film in six years. While the movie started slowly at the box office, critics call it one of Abhishek’s finest performances. Abhishek appeared on Kaun Banega Crorepati with Shoojit Sircar, hosted by his father, Amitabh Bachchan. During the show, Big B asked Abhishek what motivated him to take up the film, leading to an emotional moment. Abhishek shared that being a “girl dad” to Aaradhya deeply connected him to the film’s story.

Abhishek shared how Shoojit Sircar approached him with an interesting idea for the film. Shoojit explained he had a concept in mind and would share the details if Abhishek liked it. He introduced the story of Arjun Sen, a man who was told he had only 100 days to live. Instead of feeling hopeless, Arjun enthusiastically embraced life, asking himself daily “What can I achieve today?” Abhishek was truly moved by the story’s optimistic outlook and felt an immediate connection to the concept.
Abhishek Bachchan expressed his appreciation for the story, highlighting how it focuses on a father’s perspective, which he found deeply moving and relatable. As a proud “girl dad,” he said, “A father promising to live for his daughter despite his struggles is deeply inspiring.” Drawing a connection, he mentioned, “Shweta is your daughter, Aaradhya is mine, and Shoojit Sircar has two daughters—we all understand this feeling.” This emotional connection and perspective were enough to convince him to take on the film.
Abhishek Bachchan shared his appreciation for being part of a film told from a father’s perspective. He highlighted how much focus is usually placed on the bond between mothers and their children, which is indeed special, but fathers’ contributions often go unnoticed. He explained that fathers rarely express their efforts openly, as they prefer to support their children quietly and steadfastly. This unique portrayal of fatherhood was something he found deeply meaningful.
