Nepal’s Prime Minister, KP Sharma Oli, has expressed concern over the tragic death of a Nepali student at the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) University hostel in Bhubaneswar. He also addressed the issue of other students who were forcibly evicted from the hostel.
The Nepal Ministry of External Affairs is in ongoing talks with the Ambassador about the situation, according to sources.
In a statement on social media, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli assured the public that he is closely following the developments surrounding the incident. He expressed concern and called for a fair investigation into what happened.

“Reports on social media and the news say that a Nepali student died, and another was forced to leave the hostel at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) University in Odisha, India. The government is handling this issue through diplomatic channels,” Prime Minister Oli wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) account.
He also mentioned, “Our Embassy in New Delhi has sent two officers to support Nepali students affected in Odisha. We’ve made arrangements for them to either stay in their hostel or return home, depending on what they prefer.”
The Nepalese Embassy in New Delhi also expressed concern, urging a fair investigation into the student’s death. They emphasized the importance of cooperation and fairness to ensure justice and truth prevail.
The incident has gained a lot of media attention, prompting both governments to respond quickly in order to maintain good relations between the neighboring countries.
