A magnitude 4.0 earthquake that shook Delhi and its surrounding National Capital Region (NCR) early Monday morning, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called on residents to remain calm and adhere to safety guidelines.
The Prime Minister communicated via social media, stating that tremors were felt in Delhi and adjacent areas. He urged everyone to stay calm, follow safety precautions, and remain alert for potential aftershocks. He also reassured the public that authorities are closely monitoring the situation.

The earthquake, which occurred at approximately 5:36 a.m. with a depth of 5 kilometers, caused concern among residents. The National Center for Seismology (NCS) reported the earthquake’s location as latitude 28.59 North and longitude 77.16 East, pinpointing the epicenter in New Delhi.

The impact of the tremors was felt across Delhi, Noida, Indirapuram, and nearby areas. While the tremors were brief, they were strong enough to prompt residents to evacuate buildings and seek safety. As of now, there have been no reports of significant damage or casualties. Authorities have stated that they are closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates as necessary.
Given that Delhi-NCR is located in Seismic Zone IV, the region is susceptible to moderate to strong earthquakes. Residents are advised to remain vigilant and follow safety protocols during seismic events.
