Entrepreneurs from Ganjam, Odisha, have introduced innovative seafood mixture packets that are rich in calcium and essential fats. These convenient packets resemble regular snack chips and are currently featured at the Fish and Animal Husbandry Convention in Bhubaneswar, which began on Friday.
Produced in Gokharakuda village, the fish and prawn mixture chips attracted large crowds on the first day of the exhibition, with many attendees noting they had never seen such a product before. The exhibitors highlighted that their offering not only supports the local economy but also makes authentic seafood easily accessible to consumers.

The chips are made from small fish, which are an excellent source of calcium, omega-3 fatty acids, and protein. A representative from the company explained, “Gokharakuda relies heavily on fishing for its economy. While larger fish sell well, smaller fish and prawns often go unsold. We buy these from local fishermen and process them into ready-to-eat snacks.”
These fish and prawn chip packets are priced starting at Rs 10 and have a shelf life of six months. They are entirely sourced, processed, and sold within Odisha, generating curiosity among visitors at the fair.
A Bhubaneswar resident who sampled the chips remarked, “Small fish provide a healthy protein option and are recommended for many, including diabetics. I’m impressed by how they’ve turned these into snack packets. I fully support such creative ideas.”
The three-day Fish and Animal Husbandry Convention is being held at Baramunda playground in Bhubaneswar.
