The Commissionerate Police have successfully arrested the suspect behind the burglary at the residence of former Odisha Minister Niranjan Patnaik. The theft took place on the night of January 25, just before Republic Day, at his home in IRC Village, Nayapalli, Bhubaneswar.
According to the police complaint, the burglar stole ₹2.5 lakh in cash and gold jewellery worth around ₹50 lakh. After an intensive investigation, the police recovered the stolen jewellery from the suspect.
Interestingly, the same person is also linked to another burglary at the home of a well-known individual, leading police to widen their probe into similar cases in the area.
