The Odisha government has started preparations to launch the second phase of the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana 2.0 (DDU-GKY). This new phase aims to improve the job prospects of rural youth by providing them with essential training and skills.

Officials from the Panchayati Raj department have announced plans to create an Action Plan 2025, which will focus on maximizing employment opportunities for young people in rural areas.

To facilitate this initiative, a two-day workshop was held on Thursday and Friday. This event was organized in collaboration with the Union Ministry of Rural Development and the Odisha Rural Development and Marketing Society (ORMAS) to develop a comprehensive strategy for implementing the scheme.

Rabi Narayan Naik, the Minister for Panchayati Raj and Rural Development, highlighted the importance of replicating the program’s past successes. “We want to extend its benefits to more young individuals throughout rural Odisha,” he said, emphasizing its role in enhancing the socio-economic conditions of the state.

Since its launch in 2014, DDU-GKY has trained over 200,000 young people, with approximately 116,000 finding jobs in various industries. The state aims to provide training for at least 17,000 more unemployed rural youths by July of next year.
