Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi began a three-day visit to Keonjhar district today, coinciding with the Makar Sankranti festival. Upon arriving at the Raisuan airstrip, he traveled to Patana, where he participated in a holy dip in the Baitarani River as part of the Makar Buda ritual. Following this, he visited the historic Anandeswar temple to offer his prayers.
During his trip, Majhi is also scheduled to visit the Jyotirlinga and Maa Tarini temples. He plans to return to Bhubaneswar on January 17.
To ensure safety during his visit, extensive security measures have been implemented along the banks of the Baitarani River. A significant police presence and fire department personnel have been deployed, while large crowds gathered to see the Chief Minister.
Makar Sankranti is an important festival in Odisha that signifies the sun’s transition into the northern hemisphere. The festival is celebrated with enthusiasm throughout the state, featuring various traditional rituals and ceremonies that highlight its cultural significance.
