The Uttar Pradesh Police have implemented extensive security measures in Prayagraj for the upcoming Mahakumbh, which is expected to attract over 45 crore visitors. This significant religious event occurs every 12 years and will take place from January 13 to February 26.
To ensure safety, the police have established a multi-layered security system around the city, protecting important sites such as temples and akharas. Following directives from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, a circular security framework has been set up with 102 checkpoints along seven major routes leading into Prayagraj.

DGP Prashant Kumar mentioned that about 40,000 police officers and cybercrime specialists are working to monitor the Maha Kumbh event. They are using advanced surveillance technology, including artificial intelligence, to ensure the safety of attendees and help manage the large crowds expected at the festival.
To enhance security further, five specialized vehicles, 10 drones, and four anti-sabotage teams will patrol the area continuously. The police have also conducted mock drills in collaboration with the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), National Security Guard (NSG), and Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) to ensure readiness.
In addition to traditional security measures, the authorities are utilizing modern technology. A total of 2,700 AI cameras have been installed around the Kumbh area, and 113 underwater drones will monitor waterways for any potential threats.
