India is the top country for WhatsApp, with more than 500 million active users each month. WhatsApp has recently introduced a new feature that shows a “three dots” indicator when someone is typing in a chat. This update makes it easier for users to know when their friends or group members are actively engaged in a conversation. Instead of the previous text-based notification that simply said “Typing…”, the new indicator appears as a bubble with three dancing dots at the bottom of the chat screen.

This feature is designed to enhance real-time communication, allowing users to see who is typing without having to look away from the chat. It works in both one-on-one and group chats, providing a clearer view of who is contributing to the discussion. When someone starts typing, their profile picture will also be displayed alongside the three dots, making it even more intuitive.

WhatsApp’s update aims to improve the overall chatting experience, especially in busy group conversations where multiple people might be typing at once. This change aligns WhatsApp with other messaging apps that have long used similar indicators, making it more user-friendly and engaging.

In addition to the typing indicator, WhatsApp has been rolling out other features, such as a ‘Drafts Indicator’ to help users manage their unfinished messages more easily. With over 500 million active users in India alone, WhatsApp continues to evolve and adapt to meet the needs of its users, ensuring it remains one of the most popular messaging platforms globally.
