IPS officer Harsh Bardhan sadly lost his life in a road accident in Karnataka while he was on his way to start his first job. Family sources reported this on Monday.
His father mentioned that the last rites for the 26-year-old, who worked as an SDM in Madhya Pradesh, will be held in Bihar.
The accident occurred on Sunday evening when a tire on the police vehicle carrying him burst, causing the driver to lose control and crash into a house and a tree, as reported by the police.

After hearing about the tragic accident, his father, Akhilesh Singh, quickly made his way to Karnataka to bring his son’s body back home.
“I, along with other family members, have travelled to Karnataka to bring back his remains,” Singh, who serves as the Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) in Devsar town of Singrauli district, told PTI.
He mentioned that the last rites will take place in Saharsa, which is the officer’s home district in Bihar, according to the family’s wishes.
Family sources revealed that Harsh Bardhan successfully passed the civil services exam on his first attempt.
The IPS officer had recently finished a four-week training program at the Karnataka Police Academy in Mysuru, according to police sources.
Karnataka Police reported that Harsh Bardhan was on his way to Hassan to begin his role as a probationary Assistant Superintendent of Police in Holenarasipur.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav shared his condolences on X, saying, “I am deeply saddened by the news of the untimely passing of Shri Harsh Bardhan, a 2023 batch IPS officer from Karnataka who was originally from Madhya Pradesh. He tragically died in a road accident while returning to his first posting in Hassan district after finishing his training at the Karnataka Police Academy.”
He added that the loss of such a young officer in this manner is a significant blow to the nation and offered his heartfelt condolences to the grieving family, praying for peace for the departed soul.
